Matt Connell Wines
Award-winning Central Otago Pinot Noir
One of the highlights of your Cromwell Winery Cruises experience is a visit to Matt Connell Wines, a boutique Central Otago cellar door, where small batch quality, craftsmanship and a genuine connection to the region take centre stage.
Matt Connell Wines has earned an impressive record at the New Zealand International Wine Show, one of the country’s leading wine competitions. The winery’s “Rendition” Pinot Noir has received multiple Gold and Double Gold medals, with the 2017 vintage taking both the Champion Wine of Show and Champion Pinot Noir trophies. Matt was also named Winemaker of Show in 2020.
Wines are produced in limited quantities and so the wine tasting experience is intimate and relaxed, with opportunities for a personal winemaker session with Matt himself (please enquire).
Carrick Wines
Wine, food and the landscape of Bannockburn
Set among the vineyards above the Bannockburn Inlet, Carrick Wines is one of Central Otago’s most scenic and distinctive wine destinations.
Carrick has been making wine in Bannockburn for more than 30 years, with certified organic farming at the heart of its approach. The estate’s wines are made from its own organic vineyards.
One of the pleasures of visiting Carrick is the opportunity to combine wine with a relaxed Central Otago lunch. Choose from their winery menu or lighter snacks and hand-made pizzas.
Cloudy Bay Shed
One of New Zealand’s Most Iconic Wine Names
Cloudy Bay is one of New Zealand’s most recognised wine names, best known internationally for its Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. But the winery has also established a distinctive home in Central Otago, where it produces Pinot Noir.
At the Cellar Door, guests have a choice of tasting experiences. This takes you beyond Pinot Noir with the opportunity to explore wines from across the Cloudy Bay collection.
